Learners indulged into science tricks
Sunnyridge learners treated to science club
Sunnyridge Primary School invited their top ten best performing science learners to a science exhibition facilitated by The Mini Science Lab.
The Mini Science Lab focuses on educating children at pre-schools and primary schools about the wonders of science.
Bonani Sonqishe, Sunnyridge Primary School Science Head of Department (HOD), supervised the event.
She said this was a preparation for the Science Fair event to be held on July 23 at the school.

“We are hosting all the schools in the district for the Science Fair. Schools will be then nominated to compete with other schools provincially and nationally,” said Sonqishe.
“As a school, we will host our internal event. Our best learners will be part of the team that will participate in the Science Fair,” she said.
She said the exhibition was meant to motivate and encourage learners to venture more into science.

“It was a fun and educational day. They learnt a lot about science terms and Sheldon showed them how a black balloon absorbed heat more than a white balloon,” said Sonqishe.
Sheldon Manson, The Mini Science Lab facilitator, did a couple of science tricks for the learners.
“We teach children about the wonders of science from the ages of three to thirteen. We do educational experiments for an hour-long session,” said Manson.

“Motivating the children to get involved in science is the main priority. We also cater for children with special needs,” he said.
“What is lovely with primary school children, compared to high school learners, is that they are hungry for information. How they interact with you is amazing,“ said Manson.
Sonqishe is confident that the school will be ready for the Science Fair in July.
