Ekurhuleni charities gifted on Mandela Day
The Mayor of Ekurhuleni Tania Campbell and members of the mayoral committee also embarked on 67 minutes of community service.
Various community stakeholders, businesses and individuals embraced the spirit of giving by joining in the Mandela Day celebrations on July 18.

Charity organisations across the City of Ekurhuleni, depending solely on the support of donors, were blessed with gifts, food hampers and more.
The Mayor of Ekurhuleni Tania Campbell and members of the mayoral committee also embarked on 67 minutes of community service.
The mayor visited Usizolwethu School for Learners with Special Educational Needs in Daveyton and Bana Ba Kgotso Creche at Vusumuzi in Thembisa as part of Mandela Day stops.
She helped in fixing water leaks, cleaning the school, planting fruit trees and providing primary health care services to both learners and educators.
Girls received dignity packs in Thembisa.
Hennops River, one of the largest rivers that have its source near Kempton Park, was also cleaned up.
Food packs were donated to the elderly of Katlehong by the city’s Department of Economic Development.

Ward 36 Clr Wendy Morgan joined the day’s events by visiting Avril Elizabeth Home and Rest-a-While Service Centre in Primrose.
Rest-a-While Service Centre hosted a soup and roll day with Morgan sharing the spoils with seniors at an elderly house in Driehoek on Roselnnes Road.
Members of Netcare also visited the same home in Driehoek to hand out gifts and lunch packages.
