Led by head coach Brenda Mhlanga and team captain Naledi Thage, the squad won all their games in both the league and the tournament.

Thage said at first it was not easy as some of the girls had to learn the basics as they had never played soccer before.

Naledi Thage led her troops to two title victories.

“We had no equipment. Mhlanga bought us all we needed once we started training. She provided soccer boots, cones, balls and other training equipment,” she said.

She said winning the titles was an inspiration to other girls and an overwhelming experience.

“Our coach has instilled discipline. Her training methods brought the team together and motivated us to do better in each game,” said Thage.

“We had to learn how to connect and understand each player’s style,” she said.

Mhlanga said her players showed respect and commitment.

“As a former soccer player I know what is required for my girls to win,” she said.

“The last time the school won a trophy for soccer was in 2015 when the boys won the same titles,” said Mhlanga.

The team’s top goal scorer in the league was Kgomotso Peloahae.

Thage was the team’s top goal scorer in the cup tournament. She also won the woman of the match at the finals of the cup tournament.

Wisdom Mutsago, the school’s sports coordinator, said the school welcomed the results and celebrated with the girls
