One man was arrested by the Elsburg SAPS operations commander Captain Vuyisile Johannes Vesi for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The arrest by Vesi was done on September 19 after the complainant was approached by a man while on his way to work.

He later told police the man pointed a firearm at him.

Daphney Phooko, Elsburg SAPS communications officer said the complainant alleged that he struggled to disarm the suspect.

Police were notified.

“The suspect was traced and arrested,” said Phooko.
