Have your say on water service by-laws for CoE

The by-laws intends to give effect to clause 11 chapter 3 of the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997).

The City of Ekurhuleni calls on the community to participate in the process of drafting the new water service by-laws.

The by-laws intends to give effect to clause 11 chapter 3 of the Water Services Act (Act 108 of 1997), which puts a duty to the city as a water service authority to progressively ensure efficient, affordable, economical and sustainable access to water services to all consumers and/or potential consumers in its area of jurisdiction.

Anyone wanting to comment on the proposed city’s by-laws draft may email waterservicebylaw@ekurhuleni.gov.za by no later than March 31.

Comments can also be directed to the office of the head of department water & sanitation, City of Ekurhuleni, sixth floor civic centre, Boksburg, corner Trichardts Road and Market Street.

Alternatively, the public can visit their nearest customer care centre to submit their comments.

Public meetings regarding the new water service by-laws will take place as follows (14:00 to 16:30):

• Vosloorus (February 28, Vosloorus Civic Hall).

• Benoni and Boksburg (March 2, Boksburg City Hall).
