Upgrades on a local road underway
Tar was primed last week and should be laid on the road surface this week.
The improvements to Mark Road are steadily progressing after the recent arrival of plant machinery.
During a recent visit to the site with Ward 18 Clr Heather Hart, the Bedfordview and Edenvale News saw that laying a foundation for the road had been done. It was being compacted and was awaiting tarring.

Hart said the tar was being primed last week and should be laid on the road this week.
She said the contractors arrived in mid-May, but the machinery only arrived at the start of last month.
The News spoke to Hart at the end of April, who said the road desperately needed an upgrade.

During the April site visit with Hart, at least three properties had no road surface connecting them to Mark Road.
Subsequently, an informal road construction allowed residents to reach their homes.
At the time, Hart said there was one big undeveloped erf along the road but, over the years, it was subdivided, and development occurred.
The matter, which has been on Hart’s Ward IDP budget since 2018/19, was approved earlier this year.
After concerns raised by vigilant community members, Hart said a piece of land near the corner of Karen and Hubert Mathew roads was identified as a temporary holding area for rubble from the project.
Hart said the rubble, placed by the contractors, would be removed within weeks of the project’s completion.
