Bertha Gxowa Hospital embarks on charitable activities

“Our dedicated staff members contributed these donations in honour of Mandela Month,” said Marapyane.

The Bertha Gxowa Hospital joined the Mandela Month activities by donating non-perishable foods and toiletries to the SAVF Old Age Home in Elspark, Germiston.

The health facility also participated in the second annual edition of the surgical marathon initiative.

It addresses the pressing issue of patient backlogs in key medical fields, including paediatrics, orthopaedics, neurology, urology, myomectomy, and breast surgeries.

The members of the SAVF Old Age Home received parcels from the Bertha Gxowa Hospital management and the events committee.

“Our team performed five surgeries as part of the initiative.

“The Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, launched the marathons last July on Mandela Day,” said the Bertha Gxowa Hospital communications officer, Mampe Marapyane.

“The Bertha Gxowa Hospital management and the events committee then donated to the SAVF Old Age Home. Our dedicated staff members contributed these donations in honour of Mandela Month,” said Marapyane.
