Two caught with illicit cigarettes valued at R250 000 – EMPD
During the operation, officers uncovered 1 097 cartons of illicit cigarettes packed in boxes.

The EMPD, in collaboration with Crime Intelligence, arrested two foreign nationals in Boksburg on January 6 for possession of illicit cigarettes valued at R250 000.
The EMPD Specialised Services team, acting on a tip-off, conducted a sting operation at a Cash and Carry store suspected of dealing in illicit cigarettes.

During the operation, officers uncovered 1 097 cartons of illicit cigarettes packed in boxes.
While confiscating the contraband, one of the suspects attempted to bribe the officers with R4 950 to avoid arrest.
The suspect was immediately detained for attempting to bribe law enforcement officials.
Both individuals were arrested and taken to the Boksburg Police Station.
They are expected to appear in court soon on charges of possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes and attempting to bribe police officers.
