EMPD foils drug trafficking in Germiston

Those arrested were taken to the Germiston and Tsakane SAPS, where the substances and cash were recorded.

The EMPD Community Liaison and Drug Enforcement units arrested four people on January 16 regarding drug trafficking in Germiston and Tsakane.

The operation, done between 10:00 and 15:00, began with the arrest of a 43-year-old foreign national on Cardi Road, Dinwiddie, who was found with a ziplock bag of crystal meth, 10 foil-wrapped rocks and four brown-wrapped packets of nyaope, valued at bout R5 920, and R40 in cash.

In Tsakane, officers arrested two men on Mgwaleni Street after finding ziplock bags of crystal meth. The combined value of their stash was R2 500, and each suspect had R100 in cash.

They later arrested a 26-year-old woman in Langaville Ext 1 with 12 Mandrax tablets valued at R500.

“The suspects were taken to the Germiston and Tsakane SAPS, where the substances and cash were recorded.

“The Nigerian national and two males face drug dealing charges, while the female faces possession charges.

“They will soon appear in the Germiston and Tsakane magistrate’s courts,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

This suspect was arrested for having Mandrax tablets.
