Primrose police arrest 40 suspects in high-density crackdown

The operation was aimed to reduce crime in the area and ensure compliance among traders, liquor outlets, and second-hand goods shops.

Brigadier Ntombizini Thethe led a high-density operation in Primrose on September 11 as part of Operation Shanela 2.

The multi-disciplinary operation resulted in the arrest of 30 undocumented persons, six individuals for possession of drugs, and four individuals for selling liquor without a licence.

The operation aimed to reduce crime in the area and ensure compliance among traders, liquor outlets, and second-hand goods shops.

Thethe also engaged with the community and conducted a community imbizo at the Makause informal settlement.

Key concerns raised by residents included slow reaction times. Thethe encouraged residents to use the correct contact numbers when reporting incidents.

Thethe also urged the community to join neighbourhood watch structures and assist in crime prevention efforts. By working together with law enforcement, residents can help reduce crime in their communities.
