EMPD targets hotspots in Ekurhuleni, arrests 38 undocumented foreign nationals
Upon questioning, the suspects failed to provide valid passports or legal documentation permitting their stay in the country.
The EMPD Specialised Services Units apprehended 38 undocumented foreign nationals between October 20 and 26.
While performing their routine enforcement duties across Ekurhuleni, officers targeted identified hotspots as part of efforts to curb the high number of undocumented foreign nationals within the borders of the Republic.
Upon questioning, the suspects failed to provide valid passports or legal documentation permitting their stay in the country. All 38 men were immediately handcuffed and transported to various police stations for detention.

“The Department of Home Affairs Immigration Services was notified to conduct investigations and verify the identities of the suspects.
“The individuals face charges under the Immigration Act and are expected to appear in the respective magistrates’ courts within the jurisdictions where they were apprehended,” said EMPD media liaison officer Katlego Mphahlele.
