EMPD seizes illegal goods and furniture during Germiston by-law operation

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) confiscated perishable goods, non-perishables, and sidewalk-displayed furniture from unlicensed traders in Germiston CBD.

The EMPD By-law Enforcement Unit, together with Germiston South Precinct officers, recently conducted a Service Delivery Budget Implementation Plan operation in Germiston.

During the operation, officers visited areas within the Germiston CBD, including Jack and Railway streets.

Illegal hawkers trading without permits had both perishable and non-perishable goods confiscated.

In addition, furniture displayed and sold on sidewalks by local shop owners was seized for contravening municipal by-laws.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the City of Ekurhuleni to enforce by-law compliance, maintain public order, and ensure that streets and public spaces remain clean and accessible for all.
