Primrose murder investigation underway after 74-year-old man is attacked

Gauteng police search for suspect following violent altercation in residential home.

The Primrose SAPS is investigating a murder case following the death of a 74-year-old man at a residential property.

Police responded at approximately 13:00 on April 6 after receiving a report of a possible murder.

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said that upon arrival, officers were directed by a woman to a bathroom, where the victim was found lying in a pool of blood.

“It is reported that the victim had an altercation with his gardener, and screams were heard shortly before the gardener came out, washed his hands, and left the yard,” Nevhuhulwi said.

The suspect has not yet been arrested and is believed to be at large.

Investigations are ongoing.

The SAPS has not disclosed further details, including the victim’s identity or his standing in the community.

The NGK Primrose East made the following announcement on its Facebook page on April 6:
“It is with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of Ds Danie Oosthuizen. He was tragically attacked in his home today (April 6) and fatally injured.”
