Four arrested for alleged cable theft in Primrose
EMPD officers arrested four undocumented foreign nationals after catching them stripping copper cables believed to be part of Telkom infrastructure in Primrose.
Four undocumented foreign nationals were arrested in Primrose after they were caught stripping copper cables believed to form part of Telkom infrastructure.
According to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), members of the Northern Region Task Team responded to information from a reliable source about suspected cable theft activities at a property in Doris Street.
On arrival, officers found four suspects allegedly stripping copper cables.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the cables are believed to belong to Telkom’s telecommunications infrastructure.
Further investigations at the scene revealed that the property is suspected to be a hijacked building allegedly being used for criminal activities.

The suspects were arrested and detained at Primrose Police Station. Investigations are ongoing.
Cable theft remains a major concern as it often results in service disruptions and costly damage to critical infrastructure.
