Motorists raise concerns about Stanley Road in Primrose
EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said EMPD is aware of the Stanley Road problem.
The motorists who frequently drive on Stanley Road in Primrose are concerned about their safety because of the recycling activity taking place on the side of the road.

Motorists have complained about recycling activity getting out of control as it causes obstruction to traffic and leads to danger on the road.

Motorists complain that recyclers burn rubbish causing smoke which is an additional distraction to drivers.
GCN visited the area and found it riddled with rubbish as recyclers were sorting cardboard, plastic bottles, and glass.
Residents from the informal settlement opposite the road also dump rubbish at this spot.
A media inquiry was sent to EMPD, waste management and compliance and the City of Ekurhuleni, asking what assistance will be provided to address the motorists’ concerns.
EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said EMPD is aware of the Stanley Road problem.
“We have been monitoring this road and plans are in place to address the matter.

“We will invite the waste management department, for their expertise, and we will continue to monitor the area,” said Thepa.

She said since January 28 to March 14 they have been frequenting the affected area and will continue doing so until the matter is attended to.
“In January EMPD officers instructed potential land invaders to demolish structures and remove a pile of boards within five days,” said Thepa.
On January 27, three illegal structures were demolished on site and 15 more on January 28.
At the time of going to print no additional comment had been received from the other department or CoE.
