City of Ekurhuleni opens temporary work opportunities for unemployed residents
The City of Ekurhuleni has invited unemployed residents to apply for six-month temporary work opportunities under the Public Employment Programme.
Unemployed residents in Ekurhuleni can now apply for short-term jobs aimed at poverty alleviation, township development and environmental management.
The City has called on unemployed residents to apply through its Public Employment Programme (EPEP).
The programme will focus on three key areas:
• Community poverty alleviation and human development
• Urban and environmental management
• Township economic development

According to the City, applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be South African citizens
• Be residents of Ekurhuleni (with proof of residence)
• Be unemployed
The city has further encouraged people living with disabilities to apply.
Applications must be submitted online via the city’s official website: www.ekurhuleni.gov.za/vacancies.
Manual or late applications will not be accepted. Residents already participating in other job creation projects are not eligible unless they have completed a six-month cooling-off period after their last contract.

Successful candidates will be appointed on a six-month fixed-term contract with the city.
The closing date for applications is August 26.
