Ekurhuleni municipal offices announce festive season closures and adjusted hours
Residents of the City of Ekurhuleni are advised of festive season changes to municipal office hours. Selected offices, libraries, and pay points will close from midday on December 24 and remain closed until January 2, 2026, while essential services will continue uninterrupted.
Residents across the City of Ekurhuleni are advised to take note of adjusted municipal operating hours and temporary office closures during the upcoming festive period.
According to an official notice issued by the City’s Human Resources Department, several municipal offices, including administrative centres, libraries, selected pay points, and non-essential service departments, will close on December 24 from 13:00 and will remain closed on December 29, 30, and 31.
This includes emergency response teams, lifeguard operations, and designated standby services. Residents can therefore still rely on critical municipal support throughout the holiday period.

Municipal offices will operate for a half-day (08:00 to 13:00) on December 24, after which services will pause until the new year.
Libraries will also be unavailable during this time, with a special note that they will be closed on December 27. Full municipal operations will resume on January 2, 2026.
The city has emphasised that public communication is key, urging departments to ensure that the public is notified of these dates via notice boards and printed statements on municipal accounts.
Residents are encouraged to plan, complete any urgent municipal business before the closure dates, and make use of emergency services only when necessary.
