Woodmere pet owner warns others after cat is shot by pellet gun, injured
Everyone in the area is familiar with Odin (cat), and everyone knows Odin.
Barbara Mac Vay, a resident of Woodmere, warns cat owners to keep their animals safe after her cat was shot with a pellet gun and injured by an unknown person.
The incident occurred on August 27 and has since left the Mac Vay family shocked.
Mac Vay describes the incident as a cowardly method in which the animal was harmed.
“Everyone in the area is familiar with my cat Odin. Cats naturally wander and play, but the person who shot my animal, did so with precision because they knew where to aim.

“Luckily, Odin could drag himself home and was rushed to Mooifontein Animal Hospital in Kempton Park.
“On arrival, we were informed that X-rays were needed to establish the severity of the injuries,” Mac Vay said.

The family was later informed by the vet that Odin had been shot.
“The shock and anger left us as a family totally in turmoil.
“Odin was hospitalised for two weeks, leaving us with a huge medical bill. The vet informed us that the recovery would take up to eight weeks.
“Our family’s life was turned upside down. We even have to help Odin to his litter box.

“He will never be the same again and the thought that the shooter may be living in Woodmere is sickening.
“I could never imagine my animal being harmed like this in a community where people often stand together.”
Mac Vay told GCN she had nobody in mind who could have done this to her cat.
She urged residents with pets to ensure their animals are safe.
