Local foundation celebrates second birthday

I support orphanages by providing anything they require and by spending time with the children and imparting important life skills

Germiston resident Lebohang Ramathibela (17) shared her passion for children and how it inspired her to create her organisation.

It has been two years since the foundation bearing her first name was established as an NPO in October 2021.

She said that the creation of her organisation was prompted by her desire to enjoy helping others.

“I support orphanages by providing anything they require. I also spend time with the children and impart important life skills. In August I organised a girls’ campaign since it was Women’s Month.

“The August campaign was called Girls Unite and its goal is to talk about problems that girls face.

“I worked with the food charity Food for Life on World Hunger Day, May 28. Together, we provided food to the needy,” said Ramathibela.

“I do my work to benefit others in my neighbourhood. The least I can do is provide a helping hand when I can, and when I have goods I don’t need, I might donate them rather than toss them away because others nowadays cannot afford it,” said Ramathibela.

Ramathibela said that she received a radio interview and an invitation to an educational event where she collaborated with other nonprofit organisations.

She intends to pursue an IT or accounting degree after high school. She enjoys modelling and is a finalist for Miss Teen Universe South Africa.

“I want to plan a campaign that will allow me to visit all South Africa’s provinces should I win the pageant and speak with girls about the difficulties they face.

“I’ve already started a similar campaign, but it was solely on my social media channels. This time, I want to launch it in person with other girls,” said Ramathibela.
