Wet weather conditions affect waste removal for CoE

Rietfontein landfill site in KwaThema and Rooikraal in Dawn Park near Boksburg, are expected to re-open by the end of April 2024.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) is experiencing delays in waste removal round collections because of wet and slippery conditions.

These conditions are causing traffic congestion for waste removal trucks accessing the landfill sites.

“Platkop landfill site near Katlehong and Simmer and Jack landfill site in Germiston are operational,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“Precautionary measures are in place to ensure safe working conditions on site to fast track service delivery.

“Meanwhile, the Rietfontein landfill site in KwaThema and Rooikraal in Dawn Park near Boksburg, are expected to reopen by the end of April,” said Dlamini.
