The Vale Tournament set to thrill fans from November 27
This highly anticipated event promises to revolutionise basketball in the country as professional teams from across the continent will be heading to the arena to battle it out for the big prize.
Edenvale Lions Basketball Academy (Elba) is all set for the inaugural one million prize, the Vale Tournament (TVT).
The basketball tournament is set to take place at the Emirates Airline Park (Ellis Park) Indoor Arena from
November 27 to December 1.
This highly anticipated event promises to revolutionise basketball in the country as professional teams from across the continent will be heading to the arena to battle it out for the prize.

Elba co-founder Edson Makavan explained that this is the first of its kind. “This is a revolutionary movement in South African basketball. It’s a game-changer.
“After years of playing for peanuts, it’s time to show that basketball players can be rewarded for their talent and hard work,” he said.
The tournament is endorsed by Basketball South Africa with sponsorship from Brand SA, Aquelle, Big Link Consulting, SABC Sports, Supa Quick Edenvale, Vodacom, Castle Lite and others.
Teams from Botswana, Mozambique and Angola, as well as elite South African teams like the Soweto Panthers, will attend.

“Some of the international teams involved play at NBA level or in other major leagues, so this is a big opportunity for us to measure our talent against the best.
“We might be the youngest team in this tournament, but we have the passion and the drive to compete,” he added.
Through the tournament, they aim to build a platform for brands to get involved in growing the sport.
For the duration of the competition, spectators will be entertained by an impressive lineup of DJs and local artists such as DJ Maphorisa, Big Zulu, DJ Christos, Lerato LKG, Jazzy D and Harrison Cramp.
He is urging for more sponsors to get on board and support the growth of the sport.
“We are still in talks with other major outlets and are confident that more sponsors will come on board as the event draws closer. Our goal is not just to sell tickets but to fill up the stadium for all five days,” said Makavan.
The tickets are available for individual days or as a package deal on Ticketpro.
Special Black Friday deals are also in place, making it easier for families and groups to attend.

“This is a family-friendly event. Bring your loved ones and support local basketball,” he added.
Makavan is confident that this will be the start of a long-term initiative that will elevate the sport, inspire young players, and encourage sustainable development within the basketball community.
“The plan is for this tournament to grow year on year, attracting more teams, more sponsors and more fans.
“This is not just for the players, but for the fans, for the entire basketball community. We want people to believe in this movement,” he shared.
