160 shoeboxes delivered to Assumption Convent School

Christmas came early for Assumption Convent School as they received 160 shoeboxes as part of their Santa Shoebox Project.

Assumption Convent School received a delivery of 160 shoeboxes that were pledged for the Santa Shoebox Project on November 13.

This year the school saw a significant increase in pledges.

“This surge in involvement demonstrates the growing commitment of our school community,” said the school’s Mrs T Heeralall.

“The success of our Santa Shoebox pledges went beyond the number of boxes filled, it created an opportunity for our school community to develop empathy and understand the joy that comes from giving and highlighting the power of community and compassion.

“Every shoebox was packed with love, we found a story – a story of kindness, hope, and connection that transcends boundaries and brings vessels of joy.”

Adding that the care in ensuring every box was perfect resonated in her classroom, like a melody of generosity.
“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the staff at Assumption Convent, parents, community and most importantly our learners who give selflessly.

I would also like to place on record my little Elves: Micaela De Freitas, Natalie Mawson-Kopping, Avuzwa Essien, Nicole van Zyle, Soraya Sabni, Kgetheho Tshoma, Buhle Sangweni and Katleho Ndoda, who carried this project with love and commitment.

“As we celebrate this achievement, we also look forward to hope,” she added.

Her wish is for the spirit of the Santa Shoebox project to continue to inspire, igniting a passion for service that they will carry into the future.

“Together, we have not only brightened the holidays for those in need but have also sown the seeds of kindness that will flourish in the hearts of our students for years to come,” she said.
