Work to install pump at Russell Road reservoir continues
"Every drop counts," she remarked, highlighting the need for a collective effort in conserving ‘this vital resource’.
The MMC for Water and Sanitation, Thembi Msane, visited the Rand Water connection site on December 6 as preparations begin to install a pump linked to the newly constructed Russell Road reservoir.
This project is designed to boost water supply to Germiston’s residents, businesses, and industries, addressing persistent intermittent water issues.
The pump installation is also a critical measure to meet the area’s high water demand, particularly during peak usage times.

During the site visit, Msane reiterated the project’s significance, stating, “We have adopted an all-hands-on-deck approach to ensure the project’s completion because providing reliable water supply to our communities and businesses is a top priority.”
Acknowledging the current challenges, including the ongoing heatwave, Msane urged residents to use water sparingly and comply with Level 1 water restrictions.
“Every drop counts,” she emphasised, calling for a collective effort to conserve water.
