Taxi driver arrested for reckless driving by EMPD

The EMPD Taxi Task Team Unit arrested a 30-year-old man for reckless and negligent driving in Zonkezizwe, Katlehong, on January 20.

Officers spotted the suspect speeding and overtaking seven vehicles at once on Kaunda Street while driving a Toyota Quantum.

The vehicle’s dangerous manoeuvre prompted officers to intervene and bring it to a stop.

“The suspect was immediately handcuffed and placed under arrest.

The 30-year-old will appear in court soon for reckless and negligent driving,” confirmed city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

The EMPD continues to monitor and enforce road safety to ensure public protection on Ekurhuleni’s roads.
