Three men arrested after shootout with Germiston SAPS
Three arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and bribery.
The Germiston SAPS, while conducting routine patrols on Main Reef Road industrial side, arrested three men for possession of illegal firearms and bribery.
The police noticed the men in the evening. When approached, the men fired shots towards the police and the police retaliated.
Members of the SAPS arrested them and conducted search operations.

Officials found two revolvers with ammunition and one 9mm pistol, all without licences.
“On the scene, the suspects said they left their vehicle at Julie’s. The area where they were found walking is notorious for business robberies,” said Germiston communications officer Sergeant Maxwell Mabunda.
“While doing paperwork at the station, another suspect asked the police to free them for R3 000 adding that this is what they normally do. They were saying they wanted to go work with those firearms.
“The suspects were Zimbabweans. They were taken to Germiston SAPS cells for detention. They will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
“The station commander, Brigadier Nonhlanhla Shezi, commended the members for their vigilance and also attributed the success to effective patrols, and stop and searches that eventually enhance police visibility,” said Mabunda.
