Nature lovers invited to adventure at Melville Koppies

Residents are encouraged to book a special weekday tour at Melville Koppies Nature Reserve.

Melville Koppies offers a variety of activities, including team-building, storytelling, hiking, learning more about the Koppies’ heritage, and finding inspiration for building designs.

Walk-ins are welcome on Sunday mornings between 08:00 and 11:30.

A self-guided hike is available, ranging from 500m to 5km.

Storytelling takes place on the second Sunday of each month (the next session is on 11 May – Mother’s Day), and an 8km guided hike is held on the last Sunday of the month (the next one is on 27 April).

Wits University’s second year architecture students find design inspiration on the Koppies.

The cost is R100 per person; under-18s pay R50, and children U5 enter free of charge.

Parking is available opposite the entrance to Melville Koppies, at Marks Park Sports Club on Judith Road, Emmarentia.

All income is used for the conservation of the Koppies.
