Many nabbed for driving under the influence in Germiston

The arrested persons will appear at the Germiston and Palm Ridge magistrate’s Court soon.

The EMPD arrested 15 motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol in operations during the weekend.

The operations were conducted in Germiston, Katlehong, Thokoza, and Vosloorus between April 26 and 27 while the country was celebrating Freedom Day.

On Saturday, between 14:00 and 22:00, two male drunk-driving suspects were detained at Katlehong Police Station.

In Germiston and Primrose, a total of 10 alleged drunk drivers were detained at the Germiston and Primrose police stations.

“Then on Sunday, April 27, between 6:00 and 10h:00, three males between the ages of 41 and 57 suspected of drunk driving were arrested in Vosloorus.

“Furthermore, 100 people were stopped and searched over the weekend,” said City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

“The arrested persons between the ages of 26 and 55 are facing charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol and will appear at the Germiston and Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Dlamini.
