Vryburger celebrates rugby victories
"We are currently the top-performing matric school in all of Germiston," said De Lange.
During the school’s sports day on Wednesday, Hoërskool Vryburger High School celebrated their rugby victories against Hoërskool Vorentoe.
The first team won 57-17, the U17s won 41-0, and the U15s were triumphant by 57-5.
During the Easter holidays, Vryburger competed against two Zimbabwean schools at St Dunstan’s College. This was much-needed game time for the boys as they prepare for the rugby season.

According to coach Ruan de Lange, the school’s sports co-ordinator, they performed admirably against the Zimbabwean schools.
“We travelled there to gain experience, and we succeeded. Over the last three years, our rugby has advanced significantly,” said De Lange.
“Both the league and the Nordvaal Cup have been won by us. Our boys are understanding that they are the ambassadors of the school. It’s crucial how they conduct themselves both on and off the field,” said De Lange.
“Sports teach us discipline and focus. We want to keep having the same level of success that we have in the past.
“As coaches, it is our responsibility to support the boys, attempt to act as a father figure in their lives, and provide guidance.

Rugby gives these youngsters the chance to fight for something worthwhile in their lives, and they need supervision.

“They would give their lives for their comrades when they play for the school.
“Financial difficulties are frequently our largest obstacle, but we managed to bounce back and maintain our composure last year.
“We were able to achieve excellent academic outcomes. Our rugby squad is flourishing and expanding, and we are beginning to get stronger for the season.
“We are currently the top-performing matric school in all of Germiston,” said De Lange.
