The family of 78-year-old Annah Masebe Motlakeng-Kutumela, allegedly murdered by an unknown assailant at her home in a suspected house robbery, has been left devastated by her killing.
Kutumela was found dead with a stab wound to her neck on the morning of October 6 at her home in Marimba Gardens Ext 9, Vosloorus.
The murdered woman’s nephew, Tshepo Motlakeng (51), said, “As her family, we are deeply hurt by what has happened to her.”
The police suspect that the unknown murderer(s) gained access to the house through the roof and killed her before stealing valuables.
The family said that whoever broke into the house stole a plasma TV, a Sansui radio, a Samsung A20 cellphone, six AMC pots and an ADT alarm system.
“It seems the crime happened on the night of October 5. A neighbour, who didn’t see my aunt the entire morning of October 6, suspected something was wrong. She called other community members, who came to check the house. Upon arrival, they discovered my aunt’s lifeless body on the kitchen floor. The family immediately notified the Vosloorus SAPS,” Tshepo said.
The nephew told the Kathorus Mail that his late aunt was a loving person.

“She was a neat lady who loved and cared for her family. She was a friendly, bubbly person who provided warmth to everyone she met. She is survived by her two children, aged 54 and 51, and several grandchildren,” Tshepo said.
