Bertha Gxowa Hospital receives baby hampers from generous birthday donor
"Every child deserves a healthy start, and I am grateful to contribute to that."
Edenvale resident Josephine Ofori-Amankwah recently celebrated her birthday by giving back to new mothers by donating hampers to four maternity wards.
The hospitals that hampers were delivered to, in September, included Bertha Gxowa Hospital, Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital, Edenvale Regional Hospital and Alexandra Community Health Centre.
The donation included items such as a Bible, baby clothes, nappies, blankets, wet wipes and essential items for new mothers.
Josephine said they aim to enhance the care and comfort provided to new mothers and their newborns.

She wanted to use her birthday as an opportunity to give back and support families during a crucial time in their lives.
“Every child deserves a healthy start, and I am grateful to contribute to that, particularly to encourage mothers to raise their babies with the guidance of the Bible.”
She said hospital staff expressed immense gratitude for the generous contributions, highlighting the importance of community support in maintaining and improving maternal healthcare.
She said the initiative could not have been completed without the support of her husband Ps Joshua Ofori-Amankwah, her three daughters, Mato Ngobeni (CEO of MN Consulting Engineering), Kamogelo Sephokgole, Edith Nengwani (fellow birthday celebrant), Akua Afriyie Frimpong, Dr David Ofori-Kumi, Jiang Yu (fellow birthday celebrant) and Sandra.
