“The primary purpose of the wellness day was to encourage teamwork and strengthen collaboration across different law enforcement agencies.
“It also aimed to promote mental health awareness, provide stress relief for employees, and create a platform for social interaction beyond the workplace,” said EMPD media liaison officer Katlego Mphahlele.
“Employees displayed great sportsmanship and unity throughout the day, highlighting the importance of maintaining both physical and mental health in high-pressure professions,” she said.
“In terms of performance, the EMPD excelled by securing first place in hiking, tennis, and soccer, while the JMPD claimed top honours in netball.
“The event was a resounding success, reinforcing the value of interdepartmental collaboration and the role of wellness initiatives in enhancing productivity, resilience, and overall employee well-being,” said Mphahlele.
