Community input shapes Ekurhuleni’s draft IDP and 2026/ 27 budget

Residents and stakeholders reviewed Ekurhuleni’s draft IDP and budget, with officials emphasising the role of public input in shaping development plans.

Civic organisations, stakeholders and municipal leaders recently gathered at the Banquet Hall for a public engagement on the City of Ekurhuleni’s draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and 2026/ 27 budget.

The City said the session formed part of its ongoing public participation process, aimed at ensuring community voices are reflected in planning and budgeting priorities.

IDP senior manager Bheki Sithebe led the main presentation, outlining key proposals and development priorities for the upcoming financial year.

The engagement will help consolidate community feedback ahead of the final budget, which is expected to be presented by MMC for Finance, Jongizizwe Dlabathi.

Officials noted that the process aligns with the requirements of the Municipal Systems Act and forms part of the City’s five-year development plan.

Residents were encouraged to continue participating, with the City reiterating that public input is essential to shaping a responsive and sustainable urban future.
