Dumisani Masilela Theatre closed for renovations until July

The Dumisani Masilela Theatre has temporarily closed for upgrades, with renovations set to continue until the end of July, while only limited in-house programming remains operational.

The City of Ekurhuleni has announced the temporary closure of the Dumisani Masilela Theatre for renovations as part of efforts to improve and maintain the facility.

From Friday, May 15, until the end of July, the theatre will not accept external bookings while upgrade work is underway.

According to the city, the renovations will include fencing improvements, stage upgrades, roof maintenance and other essential refurbishment work aimed at enhancing safety and functionality.

During this period, the theatre will continue operating on a limited basis, hosting only in-house programmes until the project is completed.

The City thanked artists, patrons and the broader arts community for their understanding and support while the venue undergoes the upgrades.
