Primrose Methodist Church soup kitchen feeds over 300 weekly
"We occasionally have people outside the church who donate vegetables and fruits, but most of the donations come from the church."
Primrose Methodist Church continues to serve more than 300 underprivileged people from across Primrose through their weekly soup kitchen.
The organisation has been running a self-funded kitchen for more than 20 years.
The majority of the current recipients are homeless people and underprivileged from the informal settlements.

Cherly Fulton of the soup kitchen said that as the school holidays draw near, the number of children queuing is expected to double.
“Everyone needs a hot meal, and we give them hot soup, stock, and mealie meal the whole year. In winter, we give them bread and soup,” said Fulton.
She said over the years, unemployment and the rising cost of living have left families struggling to put food on the table. The church has become a lifeline for some families and individuals.
“We occasionally have people outside the church who donate vegetables and fruits, but most of the donations come from the church. We do need more contributions; it would be highly appreciated, as that would allow us to feed more people.

“We need the help of the community to donate any amount, or food stuff that we can use,” said Fulton.
