A veld fire burning at the Germiston Golf Course is causing poor visibility for motorists travelling along Rand Airport Road, opposite Rand Airport.Initial reports suggested the fire had broken out at the airport.

However, journalist Obedience Mkhabela confirmed that the blaze originated at the golf course.

Firefighters are on the scene working to contain the fire, while security companies and other authorities are assisting by directing traffic through areas affected by dense smoke.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution, reduce speed and follow the instructions of emergency personnel while travelling through the area.
