Marlands calls on community support for night market

Beyond its commercial value, the Marlands Market is also driven by a commitment to giving back to those in need.

Organisers are calling on the East Rand community to support the M.A.D Marlands Halloween Night Market on Saturday, October 24, at 28 Keurboom Street in Marlands, Germiston.

With 55 local vendors, family entertainment and a commitment to supporting those in need, the event is about keeping a community initiative alive in a challenging economy.

Taking place from 16:00 to 21:00, the event promises an evening of spooky fun, live entertainment, food and activities for the whole family. Behind the costumes, decorations and festive atmosphere lies a bigger purpose: supporting local entrepreneurs while giving back to people in need.

Organiser Deon Mungal is encouraging residents to support the market, reminding the community that every visit, purchase and interaction can help sustain small businesses.

“For many visitors, a community market offers an opportunity to spend time with family, discover unique products and enjoy a day or evening out without the cost of expensive entertainment,” said Mungal.

The stalls will offer a variety of products, food and treats. From gourmet food and deli offerings to independent businesses selling their wares, the market aims to create a lively environment where entrepreneurship and community spirit meet.

Beyond its commercial value, the Marlands Market is also driven by a commitment to giving back to those in need.

Mungal said the market is not simply about attracting crowds or creating an enjoyable shopping experience. Its broader purpose includes supporting the community and helping make a positive difference in the lives of people who may need assistance.

“We ask for the community to continue supporting the market, because it means a lot and goes a long way. Also, the pet food, non-perishables and second-hand clothing go a long way to assist the NPO we support,” he said.
