Beware of scammers

Steven Matiwane of Katlehong writes,

I read about a foreign woman who is going around presenting herself as a domestic worker and then stealing from her employers.

I have also experienced a similar incident with a woman who presented herself as a domestic worker. She claimed to be from Malawi and after just a few days with us as a cleaner, she left with my children’s clothes.

It is becoming risky these days even to sympathise with people who claim to be poor and looking for piece jobs. This is sad, because even though some people are genuinely looking for a job to feed their families, one can never be sure if one is dealing with genuine job-seekers.

But as a Christian country, South Africa must not stop helping those in need because of a few who have criminal minds.
