Too many children can’t afford school

Too many children can’t afford to attend a school.

Looking at the number of young children who are still running around in the townships two days after the new school term started, I think the issue of free education needs to be taken seriously by the new president.

As a retired school teacher I get very hurt when I see small children who are supposed to be at school loitering around aimlessly in the streets.

Many of these children are clearly not being cared for and the thought that some of them could be exposed to drugs and crime should be a worrying concern to all parents.

Perhaps providing free education to all children from primary school to tertiary level may be the answer to this problem. We are a developing a nation and they need education to build this country in the future.

I plead with the new president of our country to seriously look into the issue of free education as it is the only answer to a free and developed South Africa.
