Although it is normal for supporters of the same organisation or grouping to support different candidates for the leadership, in politics this can sometimes also be very dangerous. Many wars in Africa and other parts of the world have been sparked by similar divisions which often led to civil war.
Members of the organisation should all rally around the same leader and give him their support. As the country prepares for the 2019 election, I appeal and beg all ANC supporters not to allow their organisation to be torn apart by petty differences.
We all know what happened in Mozambique and in Zimbabwe when leaders of the same party started campaigning against each other.
