Tavern parties need to stop

I am one of the residents of Ponong in Vosloorus who wish to raise my voice regarding the amount of noise we have to endure.

Month-end is actually the worst period of the month because of all these taverns and parties that play music until the early hours of the morning. These parties start as early as 6pm on Fridays and continue until the early hours of Monday morning.

The situation is worse if a long-weekend is at the end of the month, the music becomes louder and the beat never stops. Both the SAPS and the Metro police are powerless to do anything about this because when we call them, they do not bother to respond.

Not only are loud and rowdy music parties a nuisance, the loud music has a very harmful effect on every single person in the neighbourhood. The elderly people can not cope with loud music, the sick cannot sleep, children cannot study and everybody just gets edgy because of the noise.

The municipality must begin to implement by-laws in order to curb turning our townships into all-night parties and dance venues on month-end and long weekends.
