Children’s Corner – Let’s make pumpkin fritters

Have some fun making baking with Leigh in today’s Children’s Corner.

Welcome to the Germiston City News’ Children’s Corner.

The Children’s Corner is dedicated to little ones within our community and offers fun things for them to do during lockdown, with their parents of course.

We will be having story time, craft time and baking time in the Children’s Corner so make sure you you keep up to date with all the fun offerings.

Follow this simple recipe to make delicious pumpkin fritters.

First make a cup of pumpkin puree but boiling and mushing/blitzing some fresh pumpkin.

The mix:

  • Pumpkin puree
  • 3/4 cup of flour
  • 1/4 sugar
  • Four teaspoons of cornflour
  • 1/4 cup of flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Mix well together until mixture is a thick consistency.

The fritters should be deep fried for the best results, so heat some oil in a pot or pan.

When the oil is hot spoon teaspoon fulls of the mixture into the oil in small batches, cook until golden brown.

Remove from the oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy.
