Luso Africa have beaten top side Benoni Northerns for the second week in a row.
Luso were 2-1 victors at Hattingh Park, on Saturday.
The local side had beaten Northerns 2-0 at the same venue a week earlier, in a Super League match.
This time the Primrose-based side won a cup game.
Luso advanced to the quarter-final of the tournament and are looking like serious contenders for the trophy.
It would take a brave person to bet against them.
They are also doing well in the league.
After beating Northerns in the league they are now second, with six matches to go.
They are, however, 11 points behind first placed Highlands Park, who look like an almost sure bet for the title.
The cup may be Luso’s best chance for silverware this season.
They get back to league action this weekend, with an away match against Corinthians.
They will then host Edenvale, at Hattingh Park, a week later.
Although it will be tough, the local side do have a mathematical chance of winning the league and the away game against Highlands Park on August 31 could be crucial.
After that Luso will have two home matches in a row, against Union and Corinthians, before the last league match, away to Edenvale.
