Great start to the season

Ready for the game.

The Germiston City Football Club are ready to take on their seasonal rivals.

Playing in the Super League, they have already started with their pre-season training.

The club’s first training was on January 18, and it went smoothly as the old players eased their way into it.

“The Super League is the top league in Easterns so we have to be well prepared,” said the club’s media liaison officer, Peter Oliver.

The club are calling on all football enthusiasts to come join them, as management is aiming to have four full senior sides.

In the junior section, training only starts on February 18, and u-6 to u-17 players are more than welcome to join in and be part of the club.

“This is not an exclusive invitation and anybody interested in playing the game may come, even if you don’t have any experience you are welcome, because we all have to start somewhere,” said one of the junior team coaches, Gerald Habib.

Furthermore, the club have a women’s team playing in the ELFA Ladies Two League, and a veteran’s side for women.

Germiston City have great plans for the year, as there are a number of items still on the negotiation table.

“It looks promising; we have started the year well and we will continue to work hard because we are here to carry and lift the name of Germiston to greatness,” said Oliver.

The practise times for all teams are:

  • Tuesday – 6pm to 8pm.
  • Thursday – 6pm to 8pm.
  • Sunday – 9am to 11am.
