Upholding the Germiston name
Germiston City Sports Club looks for sport enthusiasts.
The Germiston City Sports Club has opened its doors to the community.
“The club carries the name of Germiston, and we want to continue to uphold the name on high,” said media liaison for the club, Peter Oliver.
The facility has seven sections:
- Junior and senior football
- Junior and senior cricket
- BMX
- SquashSoftball
Sports fanatics are more than welcome to the various sections, and people who do not participate in sports are welcome to come along and support local sportsmen and women during sporting activities.
The club constantly develops new ways to make money in order to keep its facilities well maintained.
A cricket franchise tournament, Last Man Standing, is one of the ways it provides entertainment for the community.
The tournament is played in 26 other countries and is held at Germiston City every Sunday morning; it also serves as a form of revenue for the club.
There are hall facilities for hire, and catering can be provided.
The management would also like the community to know that when the fields are not utilised, they are available for team building exercises.
People interested in using the fields are welcome to call and find out about their availability.
“We would like to get the squash up and running again, so if anybody is interested they are more than welcome to join,” said one of the main committee members, Terry Ceronio.
