Will you cross the line?

Birchwood Cross the Line Half-Marathon coming soon.

On April 13, The Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre will host the fourth annual Birchwood Cross the Line Half-Marathon.

Building on the success of last year’s race, which attracted over 2 000 runners, The Birchwood Athletics Club will be introducing a new route and, once again, great prizes can to be won from The Birchwood and the event sponsors.

Whether you’re a leisurely runner or a trained athlete, the event caters for the whole family, with options of a 5km, 10km and 21.1km route available.

As an added incentive, break the current record for the 21.1km route and The Birchwood will double the prize money.

The times to beat are available on The Birchwood’s Facebook page.

Online entries are now open and print flyers are available at The Birchwood Hotel for collection, and can be dropped off at any one of the following venues:

  • Birchwood Hotel: View Point Road, Boksburg – 011 897 0000.
  • Soweto Hotel: cnr Union Avenue and Main Road, at The Walter Sisulu Square of Dedication, Kliptown, Soweto – 011 527 7300.
  • The Sweat Shop Dunkeld: West Centre, cnr Bompas Road and Jan Smuts Avenue – 011 325 2567/8.

The first 1 000 pre-entries for the 21.1km and 10km routes will receive a complimentary sports tog bag and water bottle.

Ensure that you have your race licence to take part, as well as proof of entry and payment on the day.

Temporary licences are available for purchase.

Build-up and event results will be constantly updated on The Birchwood Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as through their hash tag (#crosstheline).

Be sure to like and follow the profiles to ensure you are kept in the loop at all times.
