Germiston Stadium to be closed for reconstruction

The Germiston Stadium, also known as the Herman Immelman Stadium, is scheduled for closure to allow proper reconstruction to take place.

A portion of the pavilion was closed due to structural instability,and consultants were appointed to design the solution.

A tender was advertised in January 2014 for the appointment of a contractor for the repair works.

It is envisaged that the contractor will be on site from mid-April until mid-September — a total of five months construction time.

According to the metro, the closure period is also the period with the least activities and events.
