EFC Africa Light Heavyweight Champion Gideon Drotschie to fight Norman Wessels

'The Juggernaut' to take on the 'Chef'.

Current EFC Africa Light-heavyweight Champion Gideon “The Juggernaut” Drotschie will face Norman “Chef” Wessels at the organisations next Cape Town event’, in November, at Grandwest Casino.

Drotschie has fully recovered from a lower back disc injury and is back to full training at REPS MMA, in Belville, in the Cape.

“I am feeling great at the moment and preparation for my fight is going well; by the time November arrives I will be in the best shape of my life,” said Drotschie.

The fight between Drotschie and Wessels has been in the works for some time and reached boiling point after Wessels’s last fight.

Drotschie entered the cage post fight, which Wessels did not like; the two came close to having it out right there and then.

Social media blew up, with fans calling for this fight to happen as soon as possible, but it was soon after that Drotschie was injured and had to pull out of the encounter.

It was rumoured that Wessels said the champion was ducking the fight, which has only fuelled Drotschie’s hunger to beat his foe.

“I hope he comes in the best shape of his life, because I want to beat him so hard he is either going to have to retire or drop a weight class to stay out of my way,” said Drotschie.

The champion is currently riding a five win streak in the EFC and is sponsored by some of the strongest brands in South African MMA.

“I have the best sponsors on board and they are helping me to achieve my goals as an MMA athlete; I could not do what I do without them,” he said.

There is no doubt that there will be fireworks in Cape Town when these two warriors meet in the Hexagon.

Drotschie had one last thing to say to his opponent: “In your last fight you cried like a baby after beating an average opponent, just know that when I am done with you there will be more crying, so I tell you what, you bring those tears and I will bring the tissues.”
