Run for a cause

Callies' Fred Morrison Road Race.

Germiston Callies Harriers is proud to present the Fred Morrison 21km and 10km road race, to be held at the Germiston Stadium on September 14, starting at 7am.

This year, Southern SuperSpar has come on board as the title sponsor for the race, which has resulted in a number of exciting improvements on previous events.

The prize money has increased for both the 21km and 10km races, and goodie bags will be handed out to the first 2 000 athletes.

T-shirts will be handed out to the first 600 pre-entries, while medals will be available for all finishers.

The route through the streets of Germiston is a fast one and is ideal for novice athletes.

Walkers are welcome, but there is a three-hour cut-off.

Marshals and Ekurhuleni traffic officials will be present at all main intersections and the organisers appeal to motorists to be patient and obey instructions from the marshals and traffic officers.

Residents in the Germiston Stadium vicinity should be aware that athletes’ announcements and traffic noise will start at around 5am.

A 5km Fun Run will start at 7.15am and all proceeds will be given to the Germiston Child Welfare Society.

There are different entry fees for the 5km, 10km and 21km races respectively, with pre-entry fees being less than those paid on the day.
