Municipal Games a success

Metro workers take to sports.

Ekurhuleni employees from the Department of Sports and Recreation took part in the Municipal Games, on Friday.

The games were held at the Germiston Stadium, Delville Sports Club, Katlehong Sports Complex and other sports club around Germiston.

Due to space, Alberton also hosted some of the 21 different sporting codes in which the South, North and East regions were all represented.

Touch-rugby, netball, volleyball, athletics and soccer were played at the Germiston Stadium and the Delville Sports Club.

Delville South Road was closed on the day and used as a track for runners and power walkers.

Family members and friends were present to support and cheer on the athletes.

All the different teams had started practising in July for this sporting event, and the first-class level of play, witnessed by spectators, was a testament to this.

The different regions were kitted out in different colours in each of the sporting codes.

The teams were playing against each other one after the other, but they all had enough energy and were ready to take on each other.

Sport was the order of the day and the participants all had a blast as they battled each other.
