Carnival City will host EFC 34, on October 2.

Striking mixed martial arts specialist Sibusiso ”The Monster” Mdoko will challenge the champion, Leon ”Iron Lion” Mynhardt, for the lightweight title.

Mdoko, the showman from Cape Town, is a crowd favourite with an impressive finishing record.

He put away all three of his last opponents and has never been finished.

Another must-see clash will be between Francois ”Franaconda” Groenewald and the most dominant athlete in EFC history, Demarte ”The Wolf” Pena, for EFC Gold.

Pena is renowned for his grappling-based fighting style; Groenewald is a world bronze Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu medallist and has vowed to be the man to upend Pena’s devastating ground game and bring his nine-fight winning streak to an end.

In addition to these, there are 11 more action-packed bouts for EFC followers to sink their teeth into.

“EFC 34 is seven hours of nail-biting action that no self-respecting follower should miss,” said the entertainment manager at Carnival City, Jaco Saaiman.

“As regular hosts of this exciting extreme fighting series, we promise yet another perfect and professional event.”

EFC, the Extreme Fighting Championship, is the biggest mixed martial arts (MMA) organisation on the African continent.

Over 100 of the continent’s toughest MMA athletes are exclusively contracted to EFC, fighting out of countries such as South Africa, DRC, Angola, Nigeria, Egypt and more, to showcase their skills in front of thousands of fans in sold-out arenas.

With 10 new events per year, each featuring at least 12 explosive bouts, EFC is a sports entertainment phenomenon which has captured the attention of passionate and loyal fans throughout Africa and the world.

The doors to Carnival City’s Big Top Arena open at 3.30pm, with the event kicking off at 4pm.

Everything will be done and dusted by about 11pm.
